Antibacterial, bacteriostatic. It inhibits synthesis of bacteria proteins. It is active against Staphylococcus spp., including the most strains of S. aureus (incl. methicillin-resistant, MRSA) и S. epidermidis (incl. methicillin-resistant), also against Corynebacterium spp., Cladosporium spp. It is also effective against different staphylococci resistant to penicillins, streptomycin, chloramphenicol, erythromycin.
After oral administration it is well adsorbed from gastrointestinal tract, not degraded in stomach.
It is distributed to tissues and fluids of an organism: penetrate into skin, hypodermic tissue, lungs, nephroses and liver, pleural exsudate, cartilaginous and copulative tissues, it is accumulated into osteal tissue in significant amounts. After topical application it deeply penetrates into skin in the affected areas. After application in form of ophthalmic drops it well penetrates into intraocular fluid.
