Pharmacological action

Antibacterial, bacteriostatic. It inhibits synthesis of microbial proteins at level of ribosomes (breaks formation of peptide bonds and growth of polypeptide chains). It has bacteriostatic action against Gram-positive (Staphylococcus spp., producing and not producing penicillinase; Streptococcus spp., including S. pneumoniae; Bacillus anthracis, Corynebacterium diphtheriae) and some Gram-negative microorganisms (Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Haemophillus influenzae, Bordetella pertussis, Brucella spp., Legionella spp.), and also Mycoplasma spp., Chlamydia spp., Treponema spp., Rickettsia spp. It is ineffective against Escherichia coli and other Gram-negative Enterobacteriaceae.

Not cumulated. It is well adsorbed after oral administration, quickly penetrates into many organs and biological fluids.
